Charli D'Amelio is the most followed user on TikTok! Now, the seventeen-year-old social media star is getting candid on her new reality show.
Hulu's The D'Amelio Show chronicles the huge transitions for the D'Amelio family, since Charli D'Amelio became an overnight sensation.
Originally a competitive dancer from Connecticut, Charli now boasts over 124 million followers on TikTok.
"I don't think ever once on this entire journey has something happened and I've been like... 'yeah I expected that.' Everything has been a surprise since the absolute beginning," Charli D'Amelio said.
Charli's older sister, Dixie, also found success on the social media platform. She's now branched off into pursuing a music career, with the 20-year-old singer collaborating with the likes of Liam Payne and Wiz Khalifa.
"Music has always been a part of my life. Being able to do it in front of an audience... and people hear the art that I'm making is so cool. Having the opportunity to work with these artists is just insane and I'm just so grateful that they want to work with me too," Dixie D'Amelio said.
But what would The D'Amelio Show be without Mr. and Mrs. D'Amelio? Charli and Dixie's parents, Marc and Heidi, gave insight on the family's sudden rise to fame.
"If someone would've told me two years ago some of the things that would've happened over the last year I would've been like... 'wait, how?'" Marc D'Amelio said.
"They are still kids and we are here to protect them and make sure they have that kid time... to just be," Heidi D'Amelio said.
Unfortunately, with such a large amount of fans comes an equal amount of haters. Both sisters have struggled with the burdens of cyberbullying that have come with their fame.
"It was completely up to me to be that vulnerable, but I also think that I would not have done it any other way," Charli said.
"I think giving the energy to negativity is just going to bring more negativity. There are so many more positive people in the world and there are so many more people that love us in the world than people that hate us. I feel like we just need to remember that," Dixie said.
The D'Amelio Show is streaming now on Hulu.
