Comedy legend Stephen Colbert is set to produce Comedy Central's newest late night comedy series.
The series, entitled Tha God's Honest Truth, will be hosted by Lenard McKelvey, AKA Charlamagne Tha God. Fans of McKelvey know him as the host of the nationally syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club. Others may recognize him as co-host of VH1's shortlived reality series, The Wendy Williams Experience. Either way, on Wednesday it was announced that McKelvey would be teaming up with The Late Showhost for a new endeavor.
Our new show @cthashow premieres September 17. @cthagod - tell Comedy Central I said hi and I miss swearing on TV!pic.twitter.com/861AlZf8rx— Stephen Colbert (@Stephen Colbert) 1626880230
Colbert took to Twitter to announce his involvement with the new series. Comedy Central, the network that picked up Tha God's Honest Truth, used to be the home of The Colbert Report. In the caption, Colbert joked that he misses being able to swear on TV now that he is on primetime television. McKelvey and Colbert go way back. Not only do they both hail from South Carolina, but McKelvey has been a guest on The Late Show over a half dozen times. It's safe to say that the pair has chemistry.
Tha God's Honest Truth airs on Comedy Central on Friday September 17th at 10:00pm ET.
