As the 2021 NAACP Image Awards took place last night, one special speech was given that touched many peoples hearts.
Chadwick Boseman's life and career were honored at the awards as he won the Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture award for his skills in the Netflix series Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. This was one of the young actors last moment of work before his battle with colon cancer had taken his life.
The 43-year-old actor had passed in the thick of the pandemic during the month of August 2020.
Bosemans widow, Taylor Simone Ledward Boseman had accepted the Image Award on his behave Saturday.

In an emotional acceptance speech she said, "As always, he would give all honor and glory to the most high God."
She continued by saying, "he would thank his mom and dad, and he would give honor to the ancestors as we now honor him. Thank you NAACP Image Awards for always giving him his flowers. He was an uncommon artist and an even more uncommon person. But the manner in which we lost him is not uncommon at all. Not in our community."
She followed by expressing her concern for the black community to take the time and get checked for colon cancer, as that was the fight Boseman had struggled with.
With great urge for change she said, "black people in this country are 20 percent more likely to be diagnosed with colon cancer and 40 percent more likely to die from it. The age for routine screening has recently been lowered to 45 so if you are 45 years of age or older, please get screened. Don't put it off any longer, please get screened."
Ledward-Boseman said for people to truly take care of themselves and be proactive about the possibility of colon cancer. she went onto give resources for individuals to use, standuptocancer.org/coloncancersymptoms, and to "Please take your health into your own hands."

Along with his segment in the Outstanding Actor award, Boseman had also won the NCAACP Image award in Outstanding Supporting Actor in Da 5 Bloods.
These are not his first awards this year, as he has had a plethora of trophies given to him this award season. These include Best Actor in the Critics Choice Award, Best Actor in Motion Picture Drama Golden Globe award, on Oscar nomination and four nominations with the Screen Actors Guild awards all for Ma Raineys Black Bottom.
