The talk show co-host announced she is taking a leave of absence from The Talk out of concern for her health.

On the April 26 airing of The Talk, co-host Sheryl Underwood opened the show by announcing important news about Carrie Ann Inaba.

Sheryl shared:

"Carrie Ann is taking a leave of absence from the show to focus on her wellbeing... She appreciates the support from all of her fans and her family right here at The Talk. Carrie Ann, we miss you and we look forward to having you back with us soon."

While there were no more specifics provided about Carrie Ann's situation, the television personality has previously opened up about her health problems on the show in 2019. She then revealed she lives with multiple autoimmune disorders, including fibromyalgia, Sjogren's syndrome, and chronic fatigue.

Carrie also recently shared on the talk show in January that she was experiencing lingering side effects from her battle with COVID-19, in which she first tested positive for back in December 2020.

Carrie Ann took to Instagram on Monday to share more about her decision to take a break from the show.

In the video, Carrie says:

"I know you guys understand, health is the most important thing. So, I appreciate your support, I appreciate the love and support from The Talk family, and I hope to be back soon. Take care and I'll keep you updated. Thank you."

This comes after Carrie's brief break from The Talk in March after having numb arms and "sharp shooting pains." She also reported this was a result of her chronic conditions, saying her "spinal stenosis was acting up because of inflammation."

The star took a week vacation at this time, writing on socials:

"This week off has been so important for my soul."

Carrie Ann posted to her Instagram story yesterday as well, acknowledging all of the love and support she has received after her announcement. The post reads:

"I want to thank you all so much for the supportive messages I've received... This was not an easy decision to make and I was scared last night... but your messages reminded me that everything will be alright. Love you all so much."
