Carlos Santana has been hospitalized following a July 5 concert near Detroit, where the guitarist collapsed onstage.
Nearing seventy-five years in age, the rock legend was in the middle of a performance when he was "over-taken with heat exhaustion and dehydration," manager Michael Vrionis revealed.
Santana was escorted from the stage, bringing the concert to a halt. The subsequent July 6 show has also been postponed, Vrionis continued, though Santana is "doing well" now.
The musician's health scare comes just six months after his cancelling of all December shows due to "an unscheduled heart procedure," though Vrionis again assured at the time that Santana was "doing fantastic." Santana also tested positive for Covid-19 in February, though he recovered fairly quick.
The guitarist's run-in with heat exhaustion is not the first example of musicians being taken offstage mid-performance due to rising temperatures. Australian boy band "Five Seconds of Summer" experienced a recent incident where drummer Ashton Irwin stopped the show halfway through after suffering similar symptoms to Santana.
Ashton was hospitalized, and the group rescheduled their shows to the end of their tour. Vrionis shared that any updates for Santana's next shows will come through Live Nation.
