Rapper Cardi B made waves online when she hit back at a fan who threw water on her during a show, but a new police report suggests that the Hip-Hop star may now be facing legal action over her response.
During her concert over the weekend at Drai’s Beachclub on the Las Vegas Strip, one fan decided it would be a good idea to throw water on the performer, who responded in turn by flinging her microphone at them.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a woman filed a report Sunday, shortly after the show, alleging “battery.” She told police that she had been hit by an item thrown from the stage during a Saturday concert.
Police documented the incident, but said that no arrests or citations have been issued. It is unclear if the unidentified woman was the one who threw water on Cardi B, as the microphone appeared to strike at least one other person standing nearby.
Some fans noticed that despite throwing her microphone and briefly ceasing to perform, the vocals to the rapper's song “Bodak Yellow” continued.
Shortly after the original footage went viral, additional clips from the show circulated online of Cardi B asking that her fans throw water on her at multiple points during the show.
“Throw me some water, bitches, I’m hot,” she said, walking across the stage as audience members did as requested.
It is unclear whether the rapper's request came directly before the splash that prompted her to throw her microphone, or if the requests came after the initial incident as a way to poke fun at the situation.
The incident is the latest in a bizarre trend of fans throwing things at performers during their shows. Bebe Rexha suffered a black eye and was hospitalized after being struck by a cellphone, and an audience member at a show of Pink's threw a bag of their mother’s ashes at the singer. Kelsea Ballerini was hit in the face by a bracelet, rapper Sexyy Red ended a show early after fans would not stop throwing water bottles on stage, and Harry Styles was hit in the eye during a performance in Houston .
