Back in the spotlight following an 8-year hiatus, Cameron Diaz is officially un-retired!
The "Charlies Angel" actress last appeared on screen in 2014s "Annie." She then waited four years to announce her retirement in 2018.
"Back in Action" is one way to describe Diaz, she will be joining her "Annie" co-star Jamie Foxx for a new Netflix film.
The exciting news was delivered by Foxx. The star released, on Twitter, a recorded conversation between Diaz, Tom Brady and himself.
Foxx began,
"Listen, I got someone on the line that can help you with this. Could I click him in?" to which Diaz obliged, "I was talking to [Foxx] and he said you need a few tips on how to un-retire."
Foxx took it upon himself to break the news to the world, sharing on Twitter,
"Cameron I hope you aren’t mad I recorded this, but no turning back now. Had to call in the GOAT to bring back another GOAT. @CameronDiaz and I are BACK IN ACTION - our new movie with @NetflixFilm. Production starting later this year!!"
Production is scheduled to begin later this year according to Foxx.
Closing out her call with Brady, the "Bad Teacher" star gave her final statement,
"Honestly... exactly what I needed." She continued, “I’m like pacing the room, I feel excited, but I don’t know how to do this, you know?”
Following her last film appearance in 2014, Diaz got married to Benji Madden, a musician for Good Charlotte. They had their child, Raddix, in 2020.
