BTS was set to go on their "Map of the Soul Tour" in April 2020 before the pandemic hit in March 2020, which then forced the band to postpone their tour. After over a year of postponement, the group has officially decided to cancel their tour.

On Thursday, the band's record label announced the sad news to their fans through a post on Weverse which is a Korean app made for fans and artists to connect. The statement reads,

"Our company has worked hard to resume preparations for the BTS Map of the Soul Tour, knowing that all fans have been waiting eagerly and long for the tour. However due to changing circumstances beyond our control, it has become difficult to resume performances at the same scale and timeline as previously planned."

The tour was supposed to have dates in 17 cities, with most of them in North America, Europe, and Asia. However a lot of the cities would have had more than one show, with 37 performances total.

BTS wanted so badly to perform, so they held virtual concerts in October 2020. They had fans tuning in from 191 regions across the world.
