Britney Spears has sealed a bombshell book deal said to be worth as much as $15 million.
Publishing insiders say, Spears, 40, has reached a landmark deal with publishing house Simon & Schuster for her tell-all memoir about her career, her toxic life, and her family.'
According to one insider, the deal comes after a bidding war from multiple publishers over her book, who claimed, "the deal is one of the biggest of all time, behind the Obamas."
The right to publish Spears's story came after an intense bidding war, which industry insiders say might be bigger than Barack and Michelle Obama's deal.
Indeed, a look at a BookRiot list for lucrative deals puts Spears's reported windfall at par with Bill Clinton for highest-paid memoirs. She's ahead of Hillary Clinton, Bruce Springsteen, Amy Schumer, Keith Richards, Margaret Thatcher, and Pope John Paul II.
Spears has been gunning to write a memoir after she was left fuming over the claims made in her younger sister Jamie Lynn's memoir, "Things I Should Have Said," released in January this year.
During the week of the book's release, Spears's counsel sent sister Jamie Lynn a cease and desist over the 'misleading or outrageous' claims in the book.
Spears spent 13 years under an unusual conservatorship run by her father, Jamie Spears, which ended after a protracted legal battle in November 2021.
In an Instagram post from just before the decision, Britney warned,
"Lord have mercy on my family's souls if I ever do an interview."
