Britney Spears and Husband Sam Asghari Slam Intervention Rumors

Speculation on Spears' wellbeing circulated online after a TMZ article alleged that the singer was struggling with her mental health and substance abuse.

Britney Spears has refuted recent rumors that her friends and family staged an intervention for her.

Speculation on Spears' wellbeing circulated online after a TMZ article alleged that the singer was struggling with her mental health and substance abuse. The outlet claimed that multiple inside sources expressed concern for Spears, and that her husband, manager, an interventionist, and doctors staged an intervention.

Spears vehemently denied the rumors in an Instagram post Thursday, where she said she the allegations were making her reconsider her public platform.

"It makes me sick to my stomach that it's even legal for people to make up stories that I almost died…" Spears wrote. "I mean at some point enough is enough!!! I'm probably going to have to stop posting on Instagram because even though I enjoy doing it, there's obviously a lot of people who don't wish me well!!!"

The artist added that she is "not surprised at all," but "doing the best I can." Spears expressed that she just wants to move on following the end of her 13-year-long legal conservatorship.

"Again, the conservatorship has been over for almost a year…" she continued. "No folks, it's not 2007…it's 2023 and I'm making my first homemade lasagna at home!!! I finally got my fireplace to work in my living room!!!"

Spears' husband, Sam Asghari, also denied the rumors in a statement to Access Hollywood's Mario Lopez on Friday, confirming "an intervention did not occur."

"My wife is in full control of her life and will continue to make all decisions involving her care regardless of circumstances. Speculation on her health is inappropriate and should end immediately," he said.

Spears shared her message with a photo of the quote "A state of gratitude will shift you to a higher frequency." She finished her statement with a piece of advice from Asghari.

"As my hubby says it best: don't believe everything you read!!!" Spears said. "All that love right back at ya!!!"
