The iconic and brilliant Diana Rigg was surrounded by her loving family early Wednesday morning as she peacefully passed away in her sleep. The star was diagnosed with cancer back in March.
Rigg is famous for her roles as Emma Peel in The Avengersand Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones. She won many accredited awards, including an Emmy, Tony, Bafta and Evening Standard Awards for her various film and theater works. Her agent, Simon Beresford, released a statement saying:
"It is with tremendous sadness that we announce that Dame Diana Rigg died peacefully early this morning. "She was at home with her family who have asked for privacy at this difficult time."
The dame's daughter, Rachael Stirling, confirmed the news about her mother's passing, adding:
"I will miss her beyond words."
