Stupid Jimmy Pesto, with his crappy food and... all his insurrectionists.
Bob's Burgers actor Jay Johnston has been charged for his role in the January 6 attacks on the United States Capital. He faces a felony charge of obstruction of civil disorder, as well as multiple misdemeanor charges which include unlawful entry on restricted groups and impeding passage through Capitol grounds, according to court documents filed Monday.
With several photos featuring Johnston included, the documents detail how he reportedly incited fellow rioters to confront Capital Police. He allegedly distributed stolen police shields to other insurrectionists, helping to form a "shield wall" against law enforcement.
The documents claim that Johnston “participated with other rioters in a group assault on the officers defending the LWT entrance,” then joined other rioters and began “pushing repeatedly against the defending officers.”
The FBI obtained a text message from Johnston to an associate, in which he wrote: “The news has presented it as an attack. It actually wasn’t. Thought it kind of turned into that. It was a mess. Got maced and tear gassed and I found it quite untastic."
While he has appeared in shows such as Arrested Development, The Sarah Silverman Program, and Parks and Recreation,Johnston is best known for his role on animated adult series Bob's Burgers. He provides the voice of Jimmy Pesto, an antagonist known for his schemes and uninvolved parenting. Some fans have joked that storming the capitol is exactly what the character would do.
Images of Johnston at the capital first circulated on social media in early 2021, and he has not been featured on the show since. Although no formal statement has been made by the studio or the show's executives, Jimmy Pesto has not appeared in the most recent season, and was not featured in the 2022 summer blockbuster.
