Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively announced they will match donations for Ukrainian refugees up to $1 million.
The couple posted the news to each of their Instagram accounts on Tuesday, three days after Russian troops began to invade Ukraine.
Lively posted a picture from UNHCR of a child with the caption,
"@vancityreynolds and I are doubling every dollar donated to @usaforunhcr up to $1,000,000

@usaforunhcr is on the ground helping the 50,000+ Ukrainians who had to flee their homes in less than 48 hours. @usaforunhcr is providing life saving aid, and also working with neighboring countries to ensure protection for these families."
Reynolds, posted the same picture and urged people to donate.
"In 48 hours, countless Ukrainians were forced to flee their homes to neighbouring countries. They need protection."
After the invasion began on Thursday, thousands of Ukrainians fled their homes waiting on long train lines and traffic that stretched for miles as they evacuated the capital of Kyiv, as Russian troops advanced.
According to a report by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, 368,000 refugees have successfully left the country as of Sunday.
EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson spoke to the EU on Sunday and told them to prepare for millions of refugees to arrive.
"I think we need to prepare for millions," she told reporters in Brussels.
According to the UNHCR, more than 2 million Ukrainians had left their country prior to the current Russian invasion, due to conflict and violence and three million more people are expected to do so.
