Beyoncé Becomes First Black Woman To Wear Tiffany Diamond Necklace

Beyoncé Becomes First Black Woman To Wear Tiffany Diamond Necklace

Beyoncé and Jay-Z shocked fans over the weekend, debuting a new campaign for Tiffany & Co. photographing the Queen Bee wearing the brand's iconic 128.54-carat Tiffany Diamond, becoming the first Black woman to do so since it was found in 1877.

The Grammy-winning musician wears the fabulous piece of jewelry, which features one of the world's largest yellow diamonds, as the power couple headline Tiffany & Co's new "About Love" campaign.

"Love is the diamond that the jewelry and art decorate," the two said in a press release on Monday.

Beyoncé shared some of the striking images over Instagram.

Previous wearers of the diamond, reportedly worth over $30 million, were socialite Mrs. E. Sheldon Whitehouse in 1957, Audrey Hepburn in 1961, and Lady Gaga at the 2019 Academy Awards.

"Beyoncé and JAY-Z are the epitome of the modern love story," said Alexandre Arnault, Tiffany's executive vice president of product and communications. "As a brand that has always stood for love, strength and self-expression, we could not think of a more iconic couple that better represents Tiffany's values. We are honored to have the Carters as a part of the Tiffany family."

In addition to the necklace, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have also filmed a video that will feature Beyoncé's rendition of "Moon River," the famed song from the 1961 film Breakfast At Tiffany's.

The "About Love" campaign is launching globally on September 2.
