Ben Affleck was nominated for a SAG Award this year, but fans noticed he didn't make an appearance.

Though he ultimately did not win, 49-year-old Affleck was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his part in the film The Tender Bar.

The reason for the actor's absence is sweeter than you might expect.

The award show happened to fall on Affleck's son, Samuel's, birthday. Samuel turned ten-years-old, and Affleck reportedly spent the day with his son to celebrate his birthday. There was a birthday party for him held at the same time as the SAG Awards.

Samuel is one of three children that Affleck shares with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner. The two also have a 16-year-old daughter, Violet and a 13-year-old daughter, Seraphina 13. Affleck is currently dating former flame Jennifer Lopez.
