Barack Obama Is Hosting a Netflix Show?!

Our Great National Parks | Official Trailer | Netflix

The former president is producing and narrating his own docuseries.

Former president Barack Obama is heading to Netflix with a new series--only it's not about him.

The previous commander in chief is producing and narrating a new docuseries, "Our Great National Parks." Obama promises comedic commentary as he walks viewers through wild and beautiful landscapes.

He hails the show as an insightful and informative celebration of the world's national parks, focusing on anywhere from their smallest organisms to the species that dominate them. As Obama narrates in the trailer,

“When humanity started to protect these wild places, we did not realize how important they would become. They're a haven for endangered species, a hotbed for scientific research."

Each episode will tell the story of a single national park, but it won't just be in the United States. The series starts with the sparkling waters of Monterey Bay in California, though it will explore the bright red soil of Kenya’s Tsavo National Park, abundant rainforests of Indonesia’s Gunung Leuser National Park, the striking terrain of Chilean Patagonia, and many more.

Obama says the goal is "to encourage viewers to explore and find more ways to help these national parks thrive and be preserved for future generations." Audiences are prompted to use the hashtag #WildForAll to share the natural spaces in their life, and explore the outdoor areas around them.

"Our Great National Parks" will be released worldwide April 13 on Netflix.
