Andrew Lloyd Webber was supposed to start rehearsals for his new musical Cinderella - but the pandemic happened and it prohibited them from beginning their adventure. But Webber thought of something they could do in the meantime, and that was to produce and record the cast album for the musical in their own bedrooms.
And that is how we got here, where Andrew Lloyd Webber finally released the first single of the album called 'Bad Cinderella,' sung by Carrie Hope Fletcher. It's not normal to release the entire musical score without the actual production of the musical, but Webber actually has prime experience doing so.
When Webber attempted to get Jesus Christ Superstar on the map, no one wanted to take it. In order for people to take interest in the musical, they released the album first - and it worked.
Webber had help with the album with lyricist David Zippel, and the play will hopefully be in action by next spring. Webber is planning to hold the first show at the Gillian Lynne Theatre.
