Pop duo Aly & AJ revealed that they were forced to shelter in place early Sunday morning as a shooting broke out in downtown Sacramento, Calif., where they were kicking off their 2022 tour.
The mass shooting happened around 2 a.m. on Sunday, killing six people and injuring at least 12 more.
Authorities are searching for the person or people responsible for the violence, and a preliminary investigation has led them to believe the gunfire may have stemmed from an altercation on the street.
Sisters Alyson and AJ Michalka spoke out about the shooting on Twitter Sunday afternoon. They were in their tour bus outside the historic Crest Theatre at the time of the incident, just steps from the crime scene.

In another tweet, the former Disney divas said they were “distraught” over the shooting in downtown Sacramento on Sunday afternoon.
“All of our thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives and those recovering today. We’re praying for the health care workers caring for them. We hope all our fans made it home safe,” they added.
Tyler the Creator was also performing Saturday night in Sacramento at Golden 1 Center, blocks from where the shooting happened.
Kali Uchis, who opened for the rapper, said she was "devastated" by the shooting.
"Our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. We pray the injured recover quickly & that everyone at our show made it home safely," she wrote on Twitter.
Investigators believe multiple shooters opened fire just steps from the city Capitol in the wake of a large fight.
