Two Academy Award Winners Team Up In New Biopic & Adele Announces Vegas Residency

Two Academy Award Winners Team Up In New Biopic & Adele Announces Vegas Residency | Celebrity Page

There’s a lot to unpack in music and movie news this weekend. Luckily, our Sonia Isabelle is here to break down the latest headlines in today’s Dish.

First off, it’s the story behind the couple that brought audiences the most beloved sitcom of all time: I Love Lucy. That’s right, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz are getting the biopic treatment.

Lucille and Desi are played by Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem, respectively. The real life daughter of the legendary couple had this to say about Kidman and Bardem’s performance.

“Nicole Kidman became my mother’s soul. She crawled into her head. I don’t know how you do that. It was freaking amazing.”

The two Academy-Award-winners were tasked with embodying everyone’s favorite onscreen couple. What this biopic highlights, however, is what went on behind the scenes; Being The Ricardos is written and directed by the great Aaron Sorkin, who is no stranger to historical films. The legendary director just recently released the critically acclaimed film, The Trial of The Chicago Seven. This time around, Being The Ricardos hits select theaters Friday, December 10th and Amazon Prime Video Tuesday, December 21st.

But that’s not the only big movie release of the weekend.

Now available on Netflix is The Unforgivable starring Sandra Bullock. She plays a woman who gets released on good behavior after serving a 20 year sentence for killing a police officer. Bullock’s co-stars include Viola Davis, John Bernthal, and Rob Morgan.

“You see this woman who doesn’t seem to want to apologize or doesn’t need forgiveness. She just keeps sabotaging herself all the time and you see why. You understand how millions upon millions of Americans live every single day who don’t have the benefits of funding or health or support or finances and are just born into this system of poverty.”

That was Bullock on what the role has meant to her. Bullock is no stranger to dramatic acting; she’s known for roles in films such as Bird Box and The Blind Side, but this performance may be her most intense to date.Stream The Unforgivable on Netflix now.

In other news, Adele is about to take Sin City by storm.

Adele has scheduled a residency at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas for the first half of 2022. The residency is being called “Weekends With Adele” and it will presumably include live performances of songs from her recently released album 30. Fans had been waiting over a half decade for new music from Adele and now they have the chance to see it performed live.
