After battling breast cancer for two years, actress Kelly Preston passed away the Sunday morning, July 12th.
Born in Honolulu as Kelly Kamalelehua Smith, Kelly Preston has taken on countless roles throughout her career. Along with the role of wife and mother, she was perhaps most known for her role as the Arnold Schwarzenegger's love interest in the movie Twins (1988) and the role of Avery Bishop in the movie Jerry Maguire (1996).
A younger audience might recognize her in her roles as Daphne Reynold's mom in What a Girl Wants (2003) and Will Stronghold's mom in Sky High (2005).
Kelly Preston decided to keep her battle with breast cancer private over the last two years. In an Instagram post from Sunday night, Travolta writes a message to friends, family, and fans sharing Preston's devastating battle.
He writes:
"I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don't hear from us for a while. But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal."
The couple had three children together- Jett, who tragically passed away in 2009 after having a seizure, Ella, and Ben.
Our thoughts remain with the Travolta-Smith family today.
