Some major changes have been made in the Emmy guidelines. For the first time, nominees have the option of being recognized as a "performer" rather than "actor" or "actress". This guideline change is a big deal as it will hopefully open the door for more nominations for gender-nonconforming individuals. The editor-in-chief of OUT Magazine had this to say about the new guidelines:
"Many worthy LGBTQ+ actors including but not limited to the trans and nonbinary stars of 'Pose' are often overlooked at major awards ceremonies, so in addition to guideline changes let's make sure to honor these performers with more nominations so they can exercise these new options."
Two years ago, Billy Porter, star of FX's Pose, became the first openly gay black man to be nominated and win in any lead acting category at the Emmys. This year, he is a front runner for Outstanding Lead Actor, which would be his third nomination. It's worth noting that Porter is also set to appear as a gender-neutral version of Cinderella's Fairy Godmother in Amazon Prime Video's upcoming, new live action adaptation of Cinderella.

Things are moving in the right direction in more ways than one for this year's Emmy awards. The Emmy's will air on September 19th at 8:00pm ET on CBS with in-person attendance, and Cedric The Entertainer serving as the host.

From Award-winning journalist, Ronan Farrow, comes the story of the women who took down Harvey Weinstein. HBO's Catch and Kill is based on Farrow's book by the same name. The book, as well as the new docuseries, details the events that led up to the publication of Farrow's article for The New Yorker which exposed Weinstein as a criminal. The book was then adapted into a podcast which featured interviews with the women who were assaulted by Weinstein. Listeners and readers were eager for even more content, so Farrow is now making it available to be viewed as a docuseries in addition. Stream Catch and Kill on HBO Max now.
Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart and Snoop Dogg - Peacock
Let the games begin! Peacock subscribers are in for a treat. Starting Thursday July 15th, Kevin Hart and Snoop Dogg will join forces for a comedy series in which they provide commentary for Olympic events. Snoop Dogg is no stranger to commentary. He has contributed his commentary to sporting events such as Laker games and Mike Tyson fights. Each time Snoop Dogg makes an appearance in a setting like this, his commentary is guaranteed to be hilarious. It's safe to say his Olympic commentary won't be any different, and with Kevin Hart by his side, this series is sure to be a whole lot of fun. You won't wanna miss this one.
