NBC is bringing back the hilarious 30 Rock cast and other familiar NBC faces to serve as an upfront special that will highlight new and returning programming on the platform.
The special will feature Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin, Tracy Morgan and more all returning to their beloved 30 Rock characters. This news quickly broke after the reunion of Parks and Recreation broadcasted their remote special in efforts to raise money for Feeding America back in April. Following the success of this reunion, NBC hopes to recreate the same excitement by bringing back a scripted reunion of 30 Rock. As mentioned by The Hollywood Reporter, show creators Fey and Robert Carlock expressed their excitement about getting the cast and crew back together:
"We're all happy to have this excuse to remotely work together again for NBC. To quote Kenneth the Page, there are only two things we love in this world, television and everyone."
However, the special won't look like a traditional episode of the show we know and love. The main goal is for NBC to be able to pitch their upcoming programming to advertisers in attempts to drive interest and fill programming slots in the future. According to The Hollywood Reporter, executive VP and head of marketing and advertising at NBCUniversal Josh Feldman reassured fans that the special will still be entertaining and worth watching:
"We put our fans first in everything we do at NBUniversal, so of course our audiences are at the heart of our reimagined upfront experience. This very special '30 Rock' event will bring together video, advertising and humor to show the world the power of One Platform in a whole new way."
The special will air on July 16th at 8 PM ET on NBC and will rebroadcast on USA, Bravo, E!, Oxygen, Syfy, CNBC and available to stream on Peacock on July 17th at 9 PM ET.
